The developers have shut down the servers, but there are alternative ways to use a public server list. One option is to directly change the IP address of master.gamespy.com in the Windows Hosts file.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Instructions for adding an entry to the Windows Hosts file:<\/h2><\/span>

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the following location: C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\etc.<\/li>\n
  2. Look for a file named “hosts” and open it using a text editor such as Notepad.<\/li>\n
  3. If prompted, choose to open the file as an administrator. Right-click on the text editor and select “Run as administrator.”<\/li>\n
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the file and add a new line. Each entry consists of an IP address followed by a space or tab and the desired hostname. example: “46.28.109.117 master.gamespy.com”<\/li>\n
  5. Save the changes to the file.<\/li>\n
  6. Close the text editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>
